As de Picas in Gijón de Pinchos Bite Event

Form November the 11th to the 20th As de Picas restaurant will be participating in the ninth edition of the Gijón de Pinchos Bite Event.

Over 117 bars, cafés and restaurants are taking part in this gastronomical event. A map detailing the location of every participating restaurant will be provided by the organization of the event to make easier the selection of the participants. To take part in the event, As de Picas Restaurant has carefully prepared a bite made of typical Asturian Cabrales cheese, nuts and Iberian Ham presented over a layer of muscat wine and raspberry marmalade.

As de Picas takes part in the Asturias bite championship

Form March the 4th to the 13th As de Picas restaurant will be participating in the ninth edition of the Asturian Bite Championship.

Over 170 bars, cafés and restaurants from 29 Asturian towns are taking part in this regional championship. A map detailing the location of every participating restaurant will be provided by the organization of the event to make easier the selection of the participants. 12 finalists will be selected by a jury composed of 70 gastronomic critics.

II Alaska red salmon food festival

Popularly known as red salmon, kokanee salmon, or blueback salmon, sockeye salmon is an anadromous species of salmon found in the Northern Pacific Ocean and rivers discharging into it. This species is a Pacific salmon that is primarily red in hue during spawning. They can grow up to 84 cm in length and weigh 2.3 to 7 kg.

As de Picas Restaurant is taking part, together with one hundred other restaurants, in the Salmon Food Festival to be held from June, the 10th to 19th.

As de Picas Restaurant has been awarded TripAdvisor´s Certificate of Excellence. In its 6th year, the prestigious Certificate of Excellence designation recognizes establishments that consistently earn great TripAdvisor reviews from travelers. Winners include one-room BBs to 600 room hotels, hidden attractions to world famous museums, and local cafés to Michelin starred restaurants.

The Certificate of Excellence accounts for the quality, quantity and regency of reviews submitted by travelers on TripAdvisor over a 12 month period. To qualify, a business must maintain an overall TripAdvisor bubble rating of at least four out of five, have a minimum number of reviews and must have been listed on TripAdvisor for at least 12 months.

And as it was to be expected, As de Picas Restaurant has been included in this Foodie´s Tour of Spain where you can discover new foodie treats and the most authentic versions of Spanish gastronomy

Holidaylettings.co.uk has selected As de Picas Cachopo (cured ham and cheese inside two veal fillets, breaded and fried) as a must if you travel to Asturias. Indeed the Cachopo -a vast slab of gooey goodness that is seriously tough to resist- is together with the fabada (bean stew) one of the most popular dishes of Asturian gastronomy.

2nd Regional Cachopo and Cachopines Contest of Asturias

As de Picas restaurant presents its 2nd generation Cachopo (cured ham and cheese inside two veal fillets, breaded and fried) and 1st generation Cachopin (mini-cachopo) to a contest with more than one hundred participants.

The Cachopo is in style. 105 restaurants in all of Asturias will participate in the second edition of this regional cachopo and cachopines contest organized by the Diario El Comercio and the Guia del Cachopo (Cachopo Guide).

This time, As de Picas restaurant is presenting two creations, one that will be served in the dining room and a second one that you can order at the cafe. The «2nd generation» cachopo, made with Asturian veal, is stuffed with cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, Iberian cured ham and roasted pear, accompanied by potatoes, peppers and garlic, all for 16 euros. The «1st generation» cachopin is made with Iberian sirloin and stuffed with bodega cured ham, white asparagus, Edam cheese and bell peppers for 6€.

The winner will be chosen by a jury of gastronomic experts that will sample all the varieties of cachopo and cachopin at each establishment. The jury will visit the establishments sometime between May 14 and 24 and will identify themselves upon arrival. They will first choose the 10 finalists, which will then participate in the final test that will be held on Tuesday, May 26, at a neutral competition establishment. In addition, customers will be able to form a part of the popular jury and vote for their favorite cachopos online. The winners will receive a special prize.

The contest set up by As de Picas restaurant to award their customers for their loyalty in Social Networks has been a success. Today, April 10, marks the end of the first simple, special offer and, with just two clicks, 10 people won dinner for two.

As de Picas restaurant has started a promotion on its Facebook page to raffle dinners for two. They will raffle three dinners for two every month for those who have «liked» their page www.facebook.com/restauranteasdepicas  and have shared any of the posts made during the promotion.

The followers who have participated and complied with the established requirements could win a loyalty prize- an a la cart meal with one appetizer, main dish and dessert per person, including drinks: beer, water, soda or wine (Montesierra Somontano, Vaya Pasada Rueda, Vina Aljibes Castilla).
